Clinical Mentorship
Risewell Foundation is working diligently to develop a 30 hour clinical mentorship course aimed to help Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapist be eligible for the American Hippotherapy Certification Board Exam.
Prerequisites
- Currently licensed or certified to practice as a physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist, occupational therapist assistant, or speech and language pathologist in the US. And carry a current state license with background check requirement.
- Have least one year of full time or the equivalent (2,000 hours) experience in the practice of physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech and language pathology.
- Have completed American Hippotherapy Association (AHA) Level I and II equine skills and treatment principle courses or equivalent graduate level courses.
This small cohort mentorship will:
- Provide 20 hours hands on direct patient mentored treatment required for eligibility for the American Hippotherapy Certification Board (AHCB).
- Provide exam preparation materials to assure all participants understand and embody basic clinical reasoning when integrating and manipulating medical grade equine movement.
- Provide an opportunity to demonstrate proficient riding at the walk and trot to meet required eligibility for the American Hippotherapy Certification Board (AHCB)
- Support completing registering for AHCB exam
- Cohort of therapist to support continued growth and collaboration through your career.

Certified Theaputic Riding Instructor (CTRI) Mentorhsip
Risewell Foundation is working diligently to develop a 30 hour clinical mentorship course aimed to help instructors prepare materials, and obtain mentorship to be eligible for the PATH Int. Certified Therapeutic Ridding Instructor Exam.
The PATH Int. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI) credential is voluntary and serves as an entry-level qualification for professionals in the equine-assisted services (EAS) field. CTRIs provide riding instruction with therapeutic value to individuals with higher support needs than can be supported by a traditional riding school. This instruction may involve mounted or unmounted work in ethical partnership with an equine. PATH Intl. CTRIs meet established criteria and adhere to standards of practice, demonstrating their expertise in understanding health needs and health conditions, equines, teaching, and human-animal interactions.
This small cohort mentorship will:
- Support educating and understanding about the paperwork, direct patient hours, and video requirements need to complete the CTRI PATH Int. application to be eligible for the CTRI Certification Exam.
- Provide 25 hours hands on direct patient mentored treatment required for eligibility for the CTRI Certification exam.
- Provide exam preparation materials and study guide to complete in preparation for the CTRI certification exam.
- Provide a cohort of professions to support continued growth and collaboration through your career.

Clinical Placements for Professional Student
We look forward to taking clinical placements for the 2025-2026 term. We currently have opportunities for Doctoral level Occupational Therapy Students.
- Clinical placements are competitive, and application based. Highest priority will be given to students who commit to completing clinical research in partnership with Risewell. It is our commitment to expand and deepen the well of evidence-based practice in the use of medical quality movement in Habilitative and Rehabilitative Services.

Working Students
Risewll Founders did not come by access to the equine world easily. We intimately understand the systemic and signific fiscal barriers in perusing equine sports, equine professions, and equine access. We are committed to providing working student positions for adolescent and adults 16 or older. Working students dedicate a predetermined amount of volunteer hours for riding, mentorship, and show/ competitive experiences. We believe in helping our organization Rise within, and priority will be given to previous or current program participants.
Working student positions are available on a quarterly basis and require a weekly commitment. Working student volunteers may:
- work and condition therapy horses
- provide equine care
- complete safety checks maintain equine equipment
- Hand walk rehabilitative horses
- Be a horse handler or side walker for therapy sessions
- Provide tack up and stable support for participants.
- And many other duties as assigned
